How Do I Get Started?

Article Submitted By: The TMB TEAM Getting on the first rung of the modelling ladder is more straightforward than you may think. Before you do anything, make sure you read our ‘How To Stay Safe’ article on the TMB Advice Centre. One of the first things you can do is build your Model Book (Portfolio). This shouldn’t cost you much money, if any at all. Family snaps should be fine to approach agencies or photographers with. Reputable agencies and photographers may not need to see heavily airbrushed professional photographs to judge your look, in some respects they may even prefer to see unedited snaps. If you intend to approach clients directly, then there is no question that good quality professional shots are the best way to promote yourself (please see ‘Getting My Portfolio/Model Book Started’) Use the TMB website to find photographers in your area that are willing to work with you, this can help you get your portfolio started.

The Model Book provides portfolio-hosting services for its members. The contents of portfolios are the sole responsibility of the member. Any images being used without the permission of the copyright holder will be removed. Unsuitable material will be removed at the discretion of the TMB team and could result in the permanent removal of a member from the site. Please report any misuse of the TMB site to the TMB team.
